Setting up the data ports
The next step in the initial setup of the Summit WM series switch is to configure the physical data
ports.
A new Summit WM series switch is shipped from the factory with all its data ports set up as host ports.
Support of management traffic is disabled on all data ports. Port configuration allows for the explicit
state of the administration state for each interface. By default, data interface states will be disabled. You
can then enable each of the data interfaces individually. A disabled interface does not allow data to flow
(receive/transmit).
VLAN ID parameter
You can define a specific VLAN tag to be applied to a particular interface. All packets associated with
that port will be tagged with the corresponding VLAN. This allows the Summit WM series switch to
directly attach to a VLAN network without the need to remove VLAN tags at the connection port.
