1. Introduction
Security is a major component to any network design. One aspect of security is controlling
management access to the network infrastructure. One option is to create local user accounts on
each networking device. Local user accounts are a viable option when a small number of
networking devices are deployed. However, as the network scales an authentication server
greatly simplifies user account administration and management device access.
The Summit WM3000 Series Wireless Controllers support both local and remote RADIUS
authentication. This implementation guide will provide a step-by-step procedure for configuring
remote RADIUS authentication on the WM3400. A Microsoft Windows 2008 RADIUS Server
will be used as the authentication server.
